THE CIRCULAR
JOURNEY:
CONSUMPTION
Glass containers have unique properties and their manufacture is regarded as an essential activity. They are indispensable for some baby foods and preserves and are an inseparable part of other products, such as wine or beer.
The European glass container industry has created a hallmark to increase awareness of the health benefits for both consumers and the planet of choosing products packaged in glass. The symbol shows the commitment to glass: the responsible use of resources in a closed circuit; the protection and conservation of both the quality of the products and people’s health; and the active choice of a more sustainable future.

THE GLASS CONTAINER IS…
HEALTHY
Hygienic: it is an impassable barrier and withstands high temperatures which permit sterilization.
Chemically inert: it does not release substances into its contents or the environment has neither a taste or a smell, thus keeping the original properties of food and drinks intact.
Aseptic: thanks to its inorganic nature and to strict food safety standards in its manufacture, it offers the highest sanitaryhygienic guarantees.
RELIABLE
Transparent when necessary, so that the food inside can be seen.
Safe: airtight and waterproof, it guarantees the conservation of the quality of the food, even during long periods of storage.
Stable: it is not affected by oxidation or environmental corrosion. Its resistance to heat makes it suitable for pasteurization, bain-marie or its safe use in microwaves.
CONVENIENT
It does not change shape and, consequently, the whole of the product can be used avoiding food waste.
It transmits a good image and can be presented directly at table.
Versatile: it can be moulded into a wide variety of designs and it can use colour to protect the contents most sensitive to radiation.
It contributes added value: it gives the product an identity, enhances the consumer experience and evokes a healthy diet.
ECO-FRIENDLY
Natural: It comes from raw materials that are abundant in Nature and, in the undesirable case of it being left in the environment, it erodes like any rock, without affecting the trophic chain.
Reusable when logistics and market conditions are appropriate and environmentally favourable.
Always 100% recyclable without losing quantity or quality: having just one layer facilitates recycling it and the process is simple, integral and infinite.
